In Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we saw that the kids realized that there was something more at play and that the end game of the entire conflict was not the war between Zeus and Poseidon. The kids believed Hades to be the orchestrator of the entire fiasco, but they didn’t know the entire thing, and they still hadn’t met the king of the underworld. Percy was glad that his friends were with him, and he knew that without them, he wouldn’t have been able to come this far as well. So, let’s recap the events of episode 7 to see how Percy finally met Hades.

How did Percy reach the underworld?
In a flashback sequence in Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 7, we saw what happened between Sally and Percy back in the day. Sally was going to get Percy admitted to a school that catered to children with a learning disability. But the school didn’t want to take in Percy because they felt they were not equipped to deal with someone like him. They had heard about his drawing, and they advised Sally to homeschool him. But Sally was adamant, and she told them that her boy deserved to study there. We saw that Poseidon came to meet Sally, and she asked him to at least talk to him once, but Poseidon said that he would one day when he was ready. We came to know that Poseidon loved his boy. He just wanted to have a conversation with him at the right time, and he knew that he would always have his back, no matter what.
Percy had the same feeling of entering the underworld as he had when his mother left him at the school. Percy felt alone and scared, but he knew that he would have to overcome his fears because he had to save his mother. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover reached Procrustes’ shop, where he sold mattresses. The kids knew that he had a hidden door there that led to the underworld, but it was not so easy to get past him. Procrustes trapped the travelers who came to his shop and killed them, but the kids knew about it. They trapped him in his own mattress, which was where he used to kill the people who came to visit him. Percy and his friends were able to overpower him, and they finally reached the underworld, a place that was even more horrifying than they had imagined.
Was Percy able to reach Hades’ palace?
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover at first had to face the three-headed dog named Cerberus. Annabeth was able to calm him down, and she made sure that all three of them proceeded to the next level. After that, the kids had an encounter with the asphodels. Annabeth had read about them in a book, and she knew that they were souls who were haunted by their choices. Regret was what chained their legs and didn’t let them leave that god-forsaken place. Annabeth’s leg also got chained and tested when Percy and Grover realized that she had some regrets that she couldn’t get rid of. It probably had something to do with her mother, but she chose not to speak about it at that time in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy and Grover had to proceed without her, and they hoped that Annabeth would find a way out of that situation. They trusted Annabeth with all their lives, and they had faith in her abilities. There was a deep hole in the ground, and Percy and Grover got pulled towards it as it had some kind of magnetic power. The boys didn’t know what it was, but somehow they managed to avoid falling into the hole, and finally, they reached Hades’ palace. Percy noticed that, somehow, the master bolt had appeared in his bag. He then realized that the BG was given to him by Ares, and he was the one who had kept it there so that it could be delivered to Hades.
What did Hades tell Percy?
Percy and Grover were both surprised when Hades told them that he hadn’t stolen the master bolt. He said that he would never cause a rift between his borders, and in fact, he wanted them to end their war so that each of them could go about their business without getting bothered by any nuisance. Hades said that Sene had stolen his helm of darkness and used it to steal the master bolt. Percy and Grover were shocked after they realized that Hades had no role to play in the entire scheme of things and that he was just an onlooker like them. Percy saw his mother, who thought she was trapped by magic, turn into a gold sculpture. Percy made a deal with Hades and told him that he would get his helm back, and in return, he would have to release his mother from his captivity. Hades didn’t want to make that deal, but Percy didn’t leave him with a lot of options. Hades was not as dangerous or lethal as the kids perceived him to be. He was probably the most innocent of them all. In the upcoming battle, I believe Percy would get a lot of assistance from Hades, if not Zeus, as Hades wanted the conflict to end more than anybody else.
Who had stolen Hades’ helm?
At the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 7, the kids got to know that it was Kronos who had stolen Hades’ helm of darkness and then taken the master bolt. Kronos had the longest-standing grudge against Zeus. After Cronus killed his children because he was insecure about them taking over his empire, he ate Poseidon and Hades. Both the brothers stayed in his stomach until Zeus came and freed them all. Kronos wanted to get revenge on Zeus, and he wanted to destroy him entirely. That pit where Grover and Percy were getting pulled was also a trap set by Cronus. He wanted to take the kids inside, as he probably knew that they would be able to resolve the citation, which he didn’t want to happen at any cost. Percy and his friends were up against a formidable opponent, and they knew that it was not going to be a very easy battle. In the upcoming episodes, we will get to know if Percy is able to tackle the situation at hand and at what point Poseidon plans to help his son in his battle.
