Mythic+ Healer Rankings: Beta Tier List for The War Within (Patch 11.0 / Season 1) (2024)

Our analysis provides an estimate of the current Mythic+ meta with weekly updatesevery Monday on the website and every Sunday live on stream, until Season 1 arrives. However, it isimportant to remember that there will be many more changes, and what you see is not thefinal product. Instead, it is a progression of how each specialization performs from thestart of the beta to the actual season release.

Please note that anything I say is purely subjective and represents my opinion.However, it is an educated guess based on numerous hours of Beta testing and extensivediscussions with some of the best theory crafters from each of their specs. If you havea different opinion, that is perfectly fine. I will be happy to answer any questions in thecomment section. This tier list is entirely based on healer performance in Mythic+. The factorsthat are considered are HPS and DPS output, external cooldowns, utility, durability, andmobility.

Below, you can find the full rankings for Healer slots in Season 1 of Mythic+ in The WarWithin. We encourage you to read further and understand why some classes are placed lower orhigher than expected, with several factors considered, such as having a 4-piece tier-setactive at all times and the key levels.

Patch 11.0 update: Restoration Druidreceived a ton of changes through the Alpha and Beta cycles, brand-newHero Talents - Keeper of the Grove / Wildstalker, and a new tier set.The 2-piece will increase the healing of Regrowth, Wild Growth, and Swiftmend by 10%, while the 4-piece will increase your healing by 8%when consuming Soul of the Forest's bonus and for 6 sec afterwards.

Restoration Druid enjoyed many changes, most recentlyreceiving several healing buffs that strengthened their healing output. On top of this,you have one of the most competitive DPS profiles as a healer, which is always a massivebonus. Your defensive profile has gotten better, while keeping your incredibleparty-wide utility, and with all of that combined, we believe you are one of thebest-performing healing specializations as of now.

Patch 11.0 update: Holy Paladinreceived a dozen changes leading to the The War Within expansion,brand new Hero Talents - Herald of the Sun / Lightsmith,and a new tier-set. The 2-piece will increase the healing of Holy Shockby 10% and reduce its cooldown by 10%, while the 4-piece willfocus on Holy Shock increasing the initial healing of your next Word of Glory or Light of Dawn by 8%, stacking up to4 times.

Holy Paladin received their fair share of changes with oneof the most notable being the removal of the Daybreak cooldown,giving them fewer cooldowns to manage. However, both Hero Talentswill fill that void, shifting some power back to Avenging Wrath(which can be used as both an offensive or defensive cooldown and is nowan even stronger cooldown). Overall, the new tier-set will add more healingthroughput off-cooldowns, addressing a previous issue for the spec, whilealso increasing their damage profile. Sadly, there are no new changes fortheir Mythic+ toolkit, but everyone knows that Holy Paladin hasone of the best party-wide utilities, strong defensiveness (even an immunity),and excellent mob-control. Overall, we expect them to be one of the besthealers going into the first season of The War Within.

Retribution Aura was removed from the game, so now you areforced to play Devotion Aura (which was standard for the higherlevel keys, but also provided a chance to boost your team's damage byrunning the offensive aura).

Patch 11.0 update: Mistweaver Monkreceived a ton of changes and talent tweaks for the The War Within expansion,followed by 2 brand-new Hero Talents - Conduit of the Celestials /Master of Harmony and a new tier-set. The 2-piece will increase the Enveloping Mist and Renewing Mist healing by 10%, whilethe 4-piece enables Vivify to extend the duration of Renewing Mistand Enveloping Mist on its primary target by 2 sec, up to 4 sec.

Mistweaver Monk received not only massive changes in their spec-orientedtalents but also some quality-of-life changes across the board(removal of Essence Font, etc). Its current HPS profile is amazing as itcan easily tackle any given encounter in Mythic+ while contributing to the team with itsgreat damage profile (yes, most of your damage still requires you to be in melee). Allof this combined plays well with the strong utility package they offer, not onlycontributing to mob control but also being a "peel" for your tank in dangerous situations( Ring of Peace). They are also the only healer capable of providing the Mystic Touch debuff, which can significantly boost damage output if amelee-centric meta is being employed. As such, we are pleased with the current stateof the Mistweaver Monk and although they are not the best, the spec is ina great position.

Mistweaver Monk is still the only healer that does not haveany external damage-reduction cooldown to help support your team.

Patch 11.0 update: Restoration Shamanreceived a complete rework, brand new raid-utility, two new Hero Talentschoices - Farseer and Totemic, as well as a new tier-set.The 2-piece will enable Tidal Waves to increase the healing of affected spellsby an additional 10%, while the 4-piece bonus makes Tidal Waves 80%more effective and reduces the mana cost of affected spells by 8%.

Restoration Shaman received an overhaul in the early stages of Beta testingfor the upcoming The War Within expansion. Their healing has become much more efficient,with several options for topping up health bars swiftly while dealing damage, strongerspot-heal options, and better defensive/group-wide utility. Their new Hero Talents havesignificantly helped them close the gaps and elevate their playstyle compared to the previous expansion.If you are an avid Restoration Shaman fan, this will be the expansion to get back to it asit currently looks quite promising in terms of healing, damage, and rotation flow!

No strong external-defensive cooldown outside of their long and powerful cooldown - Spirit Link Totem. Although it is a great choice when your team is stacked, astrong single-target external-damage-reduction spell (like Druid's Ironbark short cooldown) wouldbe quite helpful.

Patch 11.0 update: Holy Priestreceived minimal changes since the onset of Beta testing. Like all specializations,they inherited two brand-new Hero Talents - Oracle / Archonand a new tier-set. The 2-piece bonus will enhance Serendipity by 10%,while the 4-piece bonus will grant Heal, Flash Heal, and Prayer of Healing a 50% chance to cast again at 35% effectiveness.

Holy Priest has undergone few changes throughout the initial Beta cycles,resulting in a rotation that remains largely unchanged. They maintain their competitiveDPS and HPS profiles but continue to face the same limitations - low mobility andinsufficient mob control. Additionally, they are one of the few healing specializationslacking an interrupt spell, which makes their mob-control one of the weakest, compared to therest of the healing specs. However, it is noteworthy that this specialization is consideredone of the "safer" healing options due to its reactive healing capabilities, whichare adept at addressing any form of incoming or sustained HPS challenges, complementedby robust spot-healing. Overall, further adjustments are anticipated to more accuratelyevaluate the Holy Priest.

Lack of an interrupt, exacerbating their already weak mob control capabilities.Deficient in strong mobility.

Patch 11.0 update: Preservation Evokerreceived massive changes leading to the The War Within expansion,followed by 2 brand-new Hero Talents - Flameshaper /Chronowarden and a new tier-set. The 2-piece bonus increases Reversion'shealing by 10% and it has a 50% chance to grant 1 additional stackof Temporal Compression. In addition, the 4-p allows for Temporal Compressionto increase the healing of your next empowered spell by 10% per stack.

Preservation Evoker still has the shortest offensiveand defensive ability range among all healers, which is a massive issue.Their performing has not been impressive at all, following the rounds ofBeta testing. With that in mind, their HPS profile is still their strongestasses, paired with decent DPS. Both Hero Talents offer additional utility,adding flavor to the specialization as a whole. Overall, they do not stand out as thebest healing option for Mythic+, and are one of the least preferred one. Further tuning willdetermine their spot, but we would like to keep a positive mindset.

They struggle to heal when the group is not stacked, which can be problematicwith several ranged DPS or uncoordinated groups. In addition, although their utilityand mob control are great, they still suffer from a lack of fully ranged abilities,which can be crucial in tough moments.

Optional	Terror of the Skies	After using Breath of Eons, you willstun all enemies by 3 sec affected by your breath.

Optional	Rescue	You can further bolster it with Twin Guardian talent for extra durability.

Patch 11.0 update: Discipline Priestreceived barely any changes since the start of Beta testing and, like everyspecialization so far, inherited two new Hero Talents - Oracle /Voidweaver and a new tier set. The 2-piece bonus increases Atonementhealing by 5%, while the 4-piece bonus enables Smite and Penanceto increase the damage of your next Mind Blast by 25% or the absorbamount of your next Power Word: Shield by 15%, stacking up to 3 times.

There have not been any major changes in how Discipline Priestplays, nor any significant talent overhauls. Their Mythic+ performancecontinues to be poor, although they haveone of the strongest external-utility packages among any healing specialization.Mobility and durability remain ongoing issues, as well as being one ofthe only healers in the game without an interrupt. This canspecifically harm their already weak mob control further, especially asSeason 1 is shaping up to be full of dangerous caster mobs. Overall,we expect further changes before forming a final opinion onDiscipline Priest.

The biggest disadvantage of playing Discipline Priest is thathigh-mobility encounters might significantly impact your DPS/HPS profile.Having dungeon knowledge can help you with decision-making on when togreed globals, but it is ultimately an issue. Additionally, being oneof the only healing specializations without an interruptharms their already weak mob control even further.
